Floors and tile

Floor and Tile Installation in Naples, FL

Whole rooms and whole homes of porcelain, plank or stone, laid on floors we flatten first, with wet areas waterproofed before a single tile is set.

Bathroom with new large-format floor tile and a tiled shower

What a Naples floor job involves

The floor you see is the last five percent of the work

Most Naples floors go onto a concrete slab, and most slabs are not flat. Large-format porcelain shows every hump as lippage, and plank clicks apart over every dip. So the job starts with demolition of the old floor, a moisture test, and self-leveling where the slab needs it. Each of those is a line on your estimate, not a surprise.

In condos the building usually requires a sound-control underlayment with a tested rating; it is in the board package we prepare. In wet areas the floor is waterproofed and flood-tested before tile, the same as our showers.

Floors laid right, starting with the slab underneath

In Southwest Florida, how long a floor lasts depends on what's under it, so every job starts with the subfloor.

Tile and Stone

  • Porcelain and Ceramic Tile

The most practical choice for a Florida home. Tile handles humidity, spills, sand and heavy foot traffic without swelling or warping. We install it in kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, living areas and throughout the house, and lanais and screened porches get slip-resistant tile rated for outdoor wet use. Layouts range from straight grids to herringbone, Versailles, diagonal and large-format plank tile, with a leveling system on large-format tile. We also install heated tile floors in bathrooms and primary suites.

  • Natural Stone

Marble, travertine, limestone, slate and quartzite give a floor character no manufactured product can copy. Stone needs more careful prep, the right setting materials for each stone, and proper sealing. Before you choose, we explain how it wears and how to clean it.

Wood, Plank and Laminate

  • Hardwood

Hardwood brings warmth to living areas and bedrooms. Most Naples homes sit on a concrete slab, so we usually recommend engineered hardwood: it's more stable in humid climates and can be glued down or floated over a moisture barrier. We test the slab for moisture first and let the wood settle in your home before installing it. Solid hardwood is an option where there's a wood subfloor.

  • Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)

One of the most popular choices in Naples. LVP looks like wood or stone, stands up to pets and family traffic, and costs less. Its core is water-resistant, and we choose the wear layer for how each room is used. Near sliding doors and big windows, strong sun can make floating floors expand, so in those rooms we recommend glue-down installation or UV window film, and we check the manufacturer's warranty terms with you before you buy.

  • Laminate

A wood look at a lower price that installs quickly. We use products with attached underlayment and water-resistant cores, and recommend laminate for dry living areas and bedrooms, not bathrooms or laundry rooms. We'll help you weigh laminate against LVP for each room.

Preparation and Finishing

  • Subfloor Assessment and Preparation

Most flooring failures start underneath. Before anything goes down, we check the slab or subfloor for flatness, moisture and cracks. We grind down high spots, level low ones, put a crack-isolation membrane over slab cracks under tile, repair damaged subfloor, and add moisture barriers where needed.

  • Removal, Transitions and Baseboards

The old floor is taken up and hauled away to your building's rules, as its own line on the estimate. Transitions, baseboards and shoe molding are reinstalled or replaced to finish each room.

  • Condo Flooring with Sound Underlayment

Most condo associations set a minimum sound rating for hard floors. We choose an underlayment and floor combination that meets your building's rule and document it for your board package.

FAQ

Questions Naples owners ask

How much does tile or plank flooring cost in Naples?
About $14 to $22 per square foot for porcelain supplied and set, and $8 to $12 for vinyl plank (LVP). Removal, flattening and transitions are priced separately.
Tile or plank for a Naples condo?
Both work. Porcelain is cooler and lasts longest; plank is quieter, softer and faster to install. Either way the building's sound-control rating decides the underlayment.
Do you remove the old floor?
Yes, to building rules, with the debris route in the logistics plan for condos. Removal is its own line on the estimate.
Will the new floor be level?
Flat, which is what matters. We test and self-level the slab where needed before anything goes down, and large-format tile is set with a leveling system.
Do I need a permit for flooring?
Not usually. Wet-area waterproofing, structural changes and anything that moves plumbing do. We tell you at the walkthrough.
Can you do the whole home at once?
Yes, and it is the most efficient way. You move out of the rooms in sequence or, for owners who are away, we do it all between your visits with the Friday update as your record.
